Don't expect them to get straight into eating
Unless they come to the session hungry, they likely won't plant their face into the cake gobbling it up. They usually take their time to explore it before giving it a taste.
They're confused at first
When they first see a giant cake in front of them, they are... confused. The look on their face usually says something like this 'oooooh what is this?' 'Can I touch this?' 'Is it safe to poke it?'
Sometimes they cry
Half the babies I've photographed for cake smash seem to not like getting their hands dirty! They start crying as soon as they get icing all over their hands which is just as adorable as a smile!
It always ends in a smile!
